GLORIA T. CASH

October 28, 1925 – January 26, 2016

Gloria T. Cash nee Townsend, 90, of Orland Park, formerly of Blue Island. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles Cash and the loving mother of Susan (the late Thomas) Parker, the late Christopher Cash and Laura (Don) Schulte. Gloria is the devoted grandmother of Julie (Eric) LaMorte, Amy (Jaret) Hedlund, James (Jackie) Schulte, Christopher (Kathryn) Schulte and Patrick Schulte and the cherished great grandmother of Abby, Erin, Jason, Noah, John, Daniel and Ryan. She was the dear sister of the late Duane Townsend. Visitation for Gloria was held Saturday, January 30, 2016, from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. WALTER H. EHLERS

August 16, 1931 – January 28, 2016

Walter H. Ehlers, 84, of Blue Island. He is the beloved brother of Alfred (Jeanne) Ehlers, Lucille (late Richard) Zielinski, Johannah (late Eugene) Blake and the late Willard Ehlers, Katherine Luchene, Miles Ehlers, Josephine Alderson, Joseph Ehlers and Irene Ehlers. Walter is the loving uncle and great uncle of many.Walter was a Veteran of the US Army serving in the Korean War. He was a retired employee of B&O Railroad. Visitation for Walter was held Tuesday, February 2, 2016 from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Ave., Blue Island. Interment took place at First Ev.Lutheran Cemetery, Alsip.

MELVIN E. FLASSIG

October 14, 1927- January 12, 2016

Melvin E. Flassig, age 88, of South Holland, IL formerly of Blue Island, IL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 12, 2016. Beloved husband of Elizabeth Flassig, nee Sindt. Loving father of Douglas Flassig and the late Kathi Lynn Flassig. Mr. Flassig was born on October 14, 1927 in Blue Island, IL to Frank and Ida Flassig. Visitation was held Friday, January 15, 2016 from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 16500 Woodlawn West Ave., South Holland, IL with service conducted by Rev. Michael Udoekong. Interment Concordia Cemetery, Hammond, IN.

GUADALUPE FRAUSTO JR.

December 4, 1960 – January 26, 2016

Guadalupe Frausto Jr., 55, of Blue Island. Husband of Ciria nee Esparza. He is the loving father of Diana Frausto, Julisa Frausto, Tyra Frausto and Julian Frausto. Guadalupe is the cherished son of Jose Guadalupe and Esther nee Sanchez Frausto and the dear brother of Javier (Carmen) Frausto, Elvia Arellano, Jorge (Lisa) Frausto, Jaime Frausto, Enrique (Sandy) Frausto, Art (Laura) Frausto and Elizabeth (Pete) Smith. Visitation for Guadalupe was held Sunday, January 31, 2016 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Ave., Blue Island. Holy mass was celebrated at St. Benedict Church, 2339 York St., Blue Island for mass at 10:00 am. Interment took place at St.Benedict Cemetery, Crestwood.

JOHN KENT McCORD

October 29, 1936 – December 27, 2015

John Kent McCord, 79, of New Buffalo passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease on Sunday, December 27, 2015 at Woodland Terrace, Bridgman, Michigan. A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Harbert Community Church, 6444 Harbert Road, Sawyer, with Reverend Jay Fast officiating. The family met with friends on Saturday from 9:00 -11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be given to Harbert Community Church, PO Box 197, Harbert MI 49125; Chikaming Open Lands, 12291 Red Arrow Hwy, Sawyer MI 49125; or Hospice at Home, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph MI 49085. John was born October 29, 1936 in Blue Island, Illinois, the son of the late Leslie and Priscilla (Kent) McCord. He served in the US Army reserves as a First Lieutenant from 1958-63. On December 4, 1982 he married Regina “Ginny” Gustafson Silvey in Hinsdale, Illinois. He graduated from the University of Illinois with degrees in accounting and economics. He owned and operated McCord and Associates where he developed award-winning computer programs for the banking industry. A long time resident of Western Springs, Illinois, he retired to Michigan in 1997. He was a faithful member of Harbert Community Church, served as treasurer and developed early computer programs for the church with Adrian VanGinhoven. He served on the Berrien County Board of Health. He was on the Board of Directors for the 1st National Bank of Blue Island, a bank that his great grandfather Ira McCord helped establish. John enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Chikaming Country Club. He belonged to the University Club,Chicago and Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Ginny; step-sons – Steve (Sallie) Silvey, Scott (Janette) Silvey and Shawn (Cynthia) Silvey; a sister – Nancy (James) Bronson II; grandchildren – Patricia(Steven) Salzmann, Elizabeth (Thomas) Healy, Terence Silvey, John (Chelsey) Silvey, Kayla Silvey and Cayley Strait; great grandson – Charles Salzmann; nieces and nephews – Jean Wilson, James (Anne) Bronson III, Bruce (Dawn) Bronson, Rae Leir, Jane Flannigan, Beth Dykstra, Laura (Stjepan) Dragash, John (Valerie) Dykstra and many great nieces and nephews.

PASCUAL “POPS” SANTIAGO III

August 24, 1990 – January 27, 2016

Pascual “Pops” Santiago III, 25, of Blue Island. He is the beloved son of Pascual Jr. and Michelle E. nee Rivas Santiago. Pascual is the loving brother of Carina Santiago and Nicolas Santiago. He is the cherished fiance of Samantha Kwasniewski. Pascual is the adored nephew and cousin of many and also leaves dear friends to cherish his memory. Pascual was a gifted artist and an active member of the ACBA (Articulated Comic Book Art). A celebration of “Pops” life was held on Saturday, January 30, 2016 from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Ave., Blue Island. Memorial donations to the Andrew Weishar Foundation (weish4ever.org) or the Cancer Support Center (cancersupportcenter.org) greatly appreciated.

ROBERT L. STRILKO

January 18, 1974 – January 31, 2016

Robert L. Strilko, 42, of New Lenox, formerly of Midlothian. He is the beloved husband of Kristy L. nee Hills and the cherished father of Hannah Strilko and Shanna Strilko. Robert is the dear son of Connie (Glenn) Martin and the late Mike Strilko and the cherished brother of Jeannie (Paulie) Erffmeyer. He is the loving son-in-law of Dan and Penny Hills and the fond brother-in-law of Dan Jr. (Beth) Hills, Dawn (David) Winterfeldt and Michelle (Tim) Hall. Robert is the devoted uncle, nephew and friend of many. Robert most enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially swimming with his girls. He was an avid video game player and love to camp and draw. Visitation for Robert was held on Friday, February 5, 2016 from 3:00 pm until the time of service at 8:00 pm at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Avenue, Blue Island. Cremation was private.

Carol J. Dorf

May 11, 1922 – November 28, 2015

Carol J. Dorf, 93, of Mesa, Arizona, formerly of Blue Island. She was the beloved wife of the late Dale Dorf. Carol is the dear sister of Phyllis (Paul) Herrmann, Barbara Babbitt and the late Marion Dickelman. Carol was formerly employed by Marshall Fields and the First National Bank of Blue Island. She was a former member of the Junior Womens Club. Carol was a gifted seamstress.Visitation for Carol was held Monday, December 14, 2015, funeral services were conducted Tuesday, December 15, at Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Ave.,Blue Island.  Interment took place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Chicago.

Noe Castaner

May 18, 1933 – December 15, 2015

Noe Castaner, 82, of Blue Island. He is the beloved husband of Ruth nee Contreras. Noe is the loving father of Terri (Jonathan) Cavazos and Maria (Ted Culligan) Castaner. He is the devoted grandfather of Noah, Caleb, Leah, Rebekah and Aaron. Noe has been a resident of Blue Island for the past forty-four years. He is a faithful member of Bethel Pentacostal Church and a retired employee of the City of Blue Island. Visitation for Noe was held Monday, December 21, 2015 , funeral services were conducted Tuesday, December 22, at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Ave., Blue Island. Interment took place at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Chicago.

Jana Dirnberger

January 28, 1941 – November 26, 2015

Jana Dirnberger nee Cheninsky, 68, of Calumet Park, beloved companion for 30 years of Richard J. Burczyk and special friend of Sue Drwiega. Jana was preceded in death by her brother and she is survived by 1 niece and 1 great niece in Czechoslovakia. Visitation was held Sunday, December 27, 2015 at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Ave., Blue Island. Holy Mass was celebrated Monday, December 28, 2015 at SS Peter & Paul Church, 12433 S. Halsted, Chicago. Cremation was private.

Charlotte A. Cozzi

December 19, 1923 – December 25, 2015

Charlotte A. Cozzi nee Liszka, 92, formerly of Calumet Park, beloved wife of the late Frank M., loving mother of Karen (Mike) McCullough and the late Mary (Louie) Pena, cherished grandmother of Shannon (Alan) Humphries, Sean (Andrea) McCullough, Scott McCullough, Ryan (Allison) McCullough, Jessica Pena and the late Nicholas Pena, proud great grandmother of Sabrina McCullough-Hart, Madelyn Humphries and Elizabeth McCullough, dear sister of Chester (Lois) Liszka, Florence (Harry) Vancoevorden and late Estelle Binczewski, late Sally Divito, late Bruno Liszka and the late Richard Liszka. Visitation was held Tuesday, December 29, 2015, from 9:00 am until time of service at 12:00 noon at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Ave., Blue Island. Interment took place at St. Benedict Cemetery, Crestwood.

Rose M. Marx

May 12, 1928 – January 5, 2016

Rose M. Marx nee Pallach, 87, of Blue Island. She was the beloved wife of the late Bill Marx. Rose is the cherished mother of Janice Marx, Linda (late Mike) McCarthy, Michele Marx (Denise McLean), Karen (Mark) MacLean and Thomas (Kimberly) Marx. She is the adored grandmother of Ryan (Kristen) Cialdella, Samantha (Steve) D’Amico, Jennifer (John) McCarthy, Bill MacLean, Ian MacLean, Lauren Marx, Emily Marx and Joseph Marx and the proud great grandmother of Noah and Connor Cialdella. Rose is the loving sister of Rita (late Aloysius) Pyka, Chester (Barbara) Pallach, the late John “Doc” (late Irene) Pallach and the late Theodore (late Frieda) Pallach and the fun-loving aunt and great aunt of many.

Rose was a dedicated homemaker and mother. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family, however she was an avid bingo player, White Sox fan and also would crochet many beautiful treasures for her friends and family. Rose was a lifelong resident of Blue Island and a faithful member of St. Isidore Parish. Visitation was held Thursday, January 7, 2016, at the Krueger Funeral Home, 13050 S. Greenwood Avenue, Blue Island. Holy mass was celebrated at St. Benedict Church. Interment took place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Alsip.

Thomas James Copulos

August 26, 1958 – December 6, 2015

Tom Copulos,  57, of Blue Island. He was the beloved father of Christopher, Nicholas, Candice and Nicole Copulos, and daughter-in-law Christine (Heffernan) Copulos. Beloved grandfather of Christopher Joseph and Colin Patrick Copulos. Tom passed away in Utah and ashes brought back to Blue Island.  Memorial was held at Beverly Unitarian Church on December 19th.
